Excessive Heat Warning for July 2 - 9: Cooling & Safety Resources

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Advisory Warning for the San Francisco Bay Area, including Martinez, CA, starting Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 11am and ending Tuesday, July 9, at 8pm. 

Notably, the warning states there will be minimal overnight relief, with low temperatures in the mid 60s to low 80s. Daily highs will range from the upper 90s to 110F in some areas.

During an Excessive Heat Advisory, you should avoid heavy activity & direct sunlight. Stay hydrated, find a cool indoor place, and check on children, elderly & pets.

Please Note: Pets are not allowed in the Cooling Center. Accommodation will be made for service animals.

HEAT SAFETY TIPS

During excessive heat:

  • Find air conditioning
  • Avoid strenuous activities.
  • Wear light clothing.
  • Check on family members and neighbors.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Watch for heat cramps - exhaustion - stroke.
  • Never leave people or pets in a car.
