Free Community Emergency Response Training

Is your family prepared? Are you trained to help your neighborhood? Disasters can strike at any time and being prepared for these and other unexpected events is critical to saving lives. Each of us has a responsibility to understand the risk natural and man-made disasters pose to our families and communities, and to recognize we each have a role in preparing for these events. Don’t be scared! Be prepared.

FREE BASIC TRAINING - Spring 2023

A free instructor-led course consisting of 25 hours of instruction on topics such as Personal and Family Preparedness, Earthquake Preparation, Team Organization, Medical Operations and Triage, Damage Assessment, Fire Suppression, Utility Control, and Light Search and Rescue

2023 Spring Basic Training Wednesdays 6:00 – 9:30PM. All classes will be held at the Martinez Senior Center, 818 Green Street. All classes are in person.

  • March 1: Intro to Preparedness + Intro to Martinez CERT
  • March 8: CERT Organization (ICS) + Intro Radio Skills
  • March 15: Disaster Medical Operations 1
  • March 22: Disaster Medical Operations 2
  • March 29: UHF (Utilities, Hazards and FIRE Safety)
  • April 5: Light Search and Rescue
  • April 12: Disaster Psychology
  • April 19: CERT Animal Awareness + Terrorism + Wrap-up and Review

Spring Basic Training will conclude with these drills – all Drills are held on Saturdays

  • April 22: Basic Radio Skill (4 hr)
  • April 29: CERT Skills Practice
  • May 6: Final Skills Demonstration + Graduation
